This edition is more traditional than the Burgundy or Tan Leather edition. The rich British Arista Black Leather (smooth finished like dress gloves or a leather couch) complements the gilded page edges, plus a black colored ribbon and black and gold silk headbands make a stunning combination.
The NET Bible is the first Bible in history with extensive Translators' Notes; we considered what kind of edition would be appropriate for those who want to use and perhaps keep it as an important collector's edition for their library. Thus it is only available in a deluxe leather binding, but at a price which allows pastors, teachers, and students to afford a Bible which won't fall apart with extensive use. It is thin and beautiful, with a page size of 6x9", only 1.6" thick, gilded page edges, black marker ribbon and soft Burgundy leather cover. Those who have only used the NET Bible online will be amazed at how much of each of the 2400 pages consist of the extensive Translators' Notes.
Designed for long life, these Second Beta Editions were bound with Bonded Leather on the observation that conventional leather dries and cracks in 35 to 150 years, while the modern Bonded Leather composition combines leather and advanced polimers in a way which should extend the working life of the NET Bible far beyond that observed by collectors of first edition Geneva and King James editions, whose spines cracked and fell apart centuries ago. Our goal was to make the first Printed NET Bibles last a very long time.
